And another thousand or so bite the dust…..

From South Dakota Drinking Liberally on December 4th, 2015:

Democratic voter registration in South Dakota fell to 169,059 this week, the lowest level of Democratic registration since 1972 when it stood at 158,086.

Read that here.

Today, a month later, South Dakota Democrats are down to 167,272 voters.

A loss of 1787 voters.

  1. But they won a ballot issue, and the Cathedral district legislative seats – give them a break 😀

  2. Curious as to what point the DNC will stop financially supporting the steadily sliding SDDP unless certain gains are made such as the SDDP being financially self-sustainable and gains being made. One would think that the DNC would get a better return on investment elsewhere in the country especially given the hard left turn by those most vocal in the SDDP and their terrible results in conservative South Dakota. Quite the mismatch.

    1. This is the reason that Weiland and Frankenfeld sponsored the latest initiated measure about campaign reform. They can’t raise money themselves, so they want to assess each registered voter $9 annually into a fund that will pay out $100 per registered voter every two years to candidates who choose to participate. Something about these figures just doesn’t add up (except to Dems)!

  3. I can’t wait to compare end of year cash on hand amounts for each party when reports come out

  4. Jason,

Of course it might not all be Obama’s fault. It might also be:

    1) Hillary and Bernie’s lack of compatibility with these Democrats.

    2) The SDDP’s lack of connection with these Democrats.

    3) Congruence with the leadership of the Governor, our US Senators, Congresswoman, and legislative leadership.

No matter the cause, the reality is the same: The democratic registration is at its lowest percentage of the voting population in decades.

  5. South Dakota Democrats should be hoping for a Republican president. Can they survive eight years of Hillary?
