  1. I am interested to know why Mike Weisgram voted no. He is generally not in the same camp as those other predictable no votes. Also interesting that Odenbach did actually vote for it.

  2. Not surprised at all with D1 liability “White Boy Summer” Rep Logan Manhart and D3 liability Rep Brandei Schaefbauer. They are not only killing economic development in their home districts but others as well.

Word on the street is Brandei had another tough legislative forum up there in Aberdeen. She went on several self-righteous tirades one of which resulted in laughter by women across the room. It sounds like they felt patronized and treated like school children by Brandei. Brandei stopped that self-righteous tirade being angry she was being laughed at and attempted to tell them off. It backfired on the Representative from Aberdeen.

The primary cannot come soon enough!

  3. An accurate list of anti-development legislators, who are fast becoming anti-everything. Vote them out for someone who will move the state forward.

  4. Good, tired of out of staters coming to SD and acting like the own the state. Thanks Kristi!

  5. We need to replace all these losers with better candidates who understand Economic Development.

  6. Well, it looks like the usual “set SD back 50 years” gang were in the “No” column. No surprise here

  7. they do travel out-of-state with the taxpayer footing the bill to attend training sessions in places like Hawaii

  8. they aren’t opposed to tourism in the usual sense, either. If flights in and out of the state are limited, it’s just going to be harder for our kids to come back to visit us.

    1. We should really drive home the point that not only do the anti-everythings want our kids to move out of the state for career opportunities, they want to ensure they don’t make it back for Thanksgiving Dinner, as well.

  9. First – I’m sick and tired of paying the exorbitant parking fees at both of these airports. If I, as a taxpayer of South Dakota has to support their expansion then I need a taxpayer parking fee reduction/reduction. I’m pretty sure no one has wondered why we couldn’t do that. In fact I can fly out of Pierre, with no parking fees, great TSA and even better service plus about $85/flight cheaper to Denver then either RC or SF.

Second – I have no idea how many people fly into the airport to do tourism in SD other then out of state pheasant hunters and Sturgis Rally attendees. Both of which only fill the pockets of a very few select people in SD. In fact Sturgis is stone cold broke trying to support the Rally, so if that went away- that part of Meade county will flourish.

    1. If FSD parking fees were “exorbitant” the new parking ramp wouldn’t always be full. One could argue that a price increase is actually in order. They do have an economy lot with a shuttle van to the terminal. I think it’s only $10.00 a day (or less than 50 cents an hour).

    2. Without good service at the RAP airport, how could all the out-of-state rally venue operators and rally vendors get in and out with all their rally revenue, to take back home out-of-state?

They need good service, so as not to spend one day extra in South Dakota.

    3. “I don’t know”

If you don’t know diddly, kindly keep your opinions to yourself.

    4. Rapid City Airport handled over 900,000 total passengers last year. This is about 450,000 in and 450,000 out. Roughly 300,000 to 400,000 of those were tourists, with June, July, and August being the busiest months. That number has grown over the last few years. I believe in 2022, the airport served around 650,000 people in total. The airport serves tourism well in Rapid City, beyond just the Rally and hunters. I would suspect we could reach over 1,000,000 this year, of people in and out of the airport.

  10. Spencer Gosch must have become anti airport since his taxpayer funded lame duck trip to Hawaii.

  11. Curious that so many people believe that only tourists travel by air.
Ten years ago my mom had a sudden cardiac arrest and was on life support in Massachusetts. There were no available seats on any flights out of Sioux Falls and my husband had to drive me to Minneapolis just to catch a flight to Chicago & then on to Boston. That was 10 years ago. We have also booked planned flights out of both Minneapolis and Omaha because flying in and out of FSD has been too difficult or expensive. In the last few years, there have been packed parking areas, departure gate areas are full of passengers just trying to get out of Sioux Falls, flights are delayed, etc. The demand for air travel just keeps going up. What part of this is so hard to understand?

  12. If you’re not going to draw things out in crayon, how do you expect Ismay to understand it? People need to not bother with speaking to him and instead talk to his wife or Jana hunt. They will tell him how to vote.

  13. While listening to the hearing, somebody challenged Hansen whether it was a 2/3 vote or majority and he lost. Whoever did that had his speech well prepared. Why do they persist in being negative for the state.
