I don’t think that’s how it works. Rep. Mulally learns about Value Added Agriculture.

From the appropriations committee on January 25th, Representative Mulally learns from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development that Value Added Agriculture is not just giving farmers “a buck” if they have corn valued at “a buck:”

.. it might be a long session.

  1. Not even close to the dumbest question the head of GOED has ever gotten in a committee hearing. Troy: you need to roll out your top ten list.

  2. Glad to have this level of intelligence on arguably the most important committee in the legislature.

  3. If you haven’t been involved in agriculture you might not know what ‘value added ag’ means, as apparently she didn’t, but at least she asked. Good for her. With this criticism, someone might not be willing to ask a question, and therefore never learn.

  4. Ted Muenster, Kneip’s chief of staff, told me the all time winner. They tried for two sessions to combine the campuses into a single university system. Huge topic of debate for two years. Late into the second year trying to get it through session, after who knows how many hearings in front of the same committee, a legislator ask Ted: “what I don’t understand is: you say we have too many universities, then why do you want to create one more?”

Ted said he knew right then it was game over.
