SD Right to Life Supports Effective Plan to Defund Planned Parenthood

Refuses to Let Shutdown Politics Interfere with Primary Goal

Watertown, SD – South Dakota Right to Life issued a statement today in support of strategic and effective efforts to truly defund Planned Parenthood and called on federal legislators in Washington, DC to do the same.

“The mission of our organization is to protect and defend the right to life, which is the most fundamental right of humankind. Like so many other Americans, we were shocked and horrified as the Planned Parenthood videos were released over the last few months and we strongly support defunding Planned Parenthood,” said Fred Deutsch, President of South Dakota Right to Life.

“We believe the best way to actually achieve our intended result, to stop federal funding of Planned Parenthood, is through focused efforts that are well-timed and have a chance at becoming law. Shutting down the government over funding to Planned Parenthood would create a distraction from our primary cause.  Additionally, it wouldn’t even be effective if we won the shutdown fight since the majority of federal funds flow through entitlement programs like Medicaid that are not part of the annual funding approval process,” continued Deutsch.

“We are thankful for the strong pro-life positions that South Dakota’s federal delegation has taken and their support to defund Planned Parenthood. Our organization will continue to educate the public and we look forward to working with our delegation, and a new pro-life President, very soon to defund this horrible organization once and for all,” concluded Deutsch.

    1. South Dakota Right to Life needs a more honest name, like “South Dakota Right to Fundraising.” Lately all they ever seem to do is throw their big wet blankets on anyone who dares to take a bold pro-life stand. They’re killing more children than they’re saving.

  1. The way the Democrat party sacrifices babies on the altar of choice is truly grotesque, and I am not sure how people can claim any moral high ground and support the end of innocent human life.

  2. Total ignorance (as usual) to suggest that “defunding” PP will have any effect on the number of abortions…PP would not go away, their private support would increase and abortions would continue and they are certainly not the only provider. Are “these people” so dumb as not to realize that the family planning and contraception provided by PP reduces the number of unwanted pregnancies tremendously = fewer abortions? They don’t care, most of “these people” aren’t pro-life they are pro-birth as in thinking the female should accept the consequences of the act which they hate and when that “consequence” is breathing to them it is to hell with it, it’s a welfare brat that shouldn’t mooch a penny of their tax dollar to survive….
When all “these people” publicize their willingness to adopt a “fetus” of a woman planning an abortion and support her through the pregnancy and support the kid as theirs until adulthood they will not define the word “hypocrite” … if they actually believe the claims they make.

    1. there’s a lot of presuming going on there. don’t use up all your ‘ignorance cure’ on us, save some for yourself.

      1. Sir, I will remind you again, you have the right to refute any fact stated or dispute any opinion…..Evidently you are never equipped to do either..

  3. If Planned Parenthood were really doing such a great job preventing unplanned pregnancies, why do their clients keep getting pregnant?

Preventing pregnancy is easy. Really easy. Somehow or other, in spite of 55 years worth of school-based sex education and easy availability of contraception, women are still getting pregnant by “accident” although it’s kind of like getting hit by a railroad train by “accident.”
Obviously Planned Parebthood isn’t working, isn’t getting the job done. So it’s time to stop funding it.

      1. “PP would not go away, their private support would increase and abortions would continue…”

Well, then they certainly don’t need taxpayer funding.

        You said so, yourself.
