The great Donald Trump South Dakota electoral college protest.

From KELOland:

A protest is scheduled in Pierre on Monday as the members of the Electoral College vote to make Donald Trump the 45th President of the United States.

Protesters are planning to be outside South Dakota’s State Capitol building beginning at 9 a.m. They’re urging members to “respect the will of the people and reject Trump to vote for the winner of the national popular vote.”

Read it here.

After reading this announcement, I sent a note to a friend, asking him to swing by to snap a photo for me just to see who has time for a fool’s errand this morning in Pierre.

So he goes over there (at about 5–10 minutes til 9), and instead of a picture of them organizing, I get a very pointed message regarding the favor I requested of him.  Specifically, he asked “Where the **** are they?

Um, I’m not thinking that this sounds like much of a protest.

He just sent the above at 5 minutes after the alleged 9AM protest start time. That doesn’t look like protesters unless protesting is social justice warrior code for clearing the snow off the front walk.

My correspondent did follow up, hanging around for a few minutes, and is telling me that there is absolutely nobody out there, and that the local station, KCCR radio, also drove by looking for these ‘alleged’ protesters.

So, more people cleaning snow off the steps than protesting. (And I owe my correspondent a favor for sending him on a fools errand when it’s as cold out as it is, because there’s absolutely no one there.)

So much for the great 2016 Donald Trump South Dakota electoral college protest.

  1. I certainly hope your friend doesn’t get into trouble for leaving KCCR to give content to a competitor.

    1. The person who shot the photo was not from KCCR. My friend said he observed the person from KCCR radio driving by, doing what we were doing – seeing if there was actually a protest.

  2. In SD it is the GOV, Lt GOV and AG…if any of them dont vote trump their careers are over and/or agenda….protest in another state as it will do no good here

  3. I’ve been trying to get a friendly wager on the over/under of total GOP electors who don’t vote for Trump. General consensus is: More Dems won’t vote for Hillary than GOP’s won’t vote for Trump. I agree.

  4. protest????? ahhh! I forgot!!!!!! overslept playing tour of duty last night dude and its warmer in moms basement rite now. gotta see what is goin on at DFP first

  5. So far, 100% of the GOP electors have voted for Trump. Four Democrat electors have voted for someone besides Hillary.

Hmmmm. The story was supposed to be whether GOP electors would abandon Trump. The story is Dem electors are abandoning Hillary. How much press do you think this will get tonight? How much do you think it would have gotten if more had defected from Trump?

Once again, Trump pulled a fast one on the Dems and press. Would not be surprised if they catfished the “faithless elector” discussion and encouraged the protests at the state capitols. Hilarious.

  6. Respect the will of the people, unless the will of the people in your state is to say, “Go pound sand, Hillary, you liar!” Dumbocrats are so hypocritical and pragmatic to the point of calling up down and white black (I’m simply talking colors, so don’t cry “racist”, you progressives).

    1. Funny…. I heard “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” on the radio this morning, and wondered why Obama hasn’t called it a racist song yet!!

  7. The protesters all drive a Prius…and well, their Prius cars obviously didn’t start this morning.
Or their Prius is still stuck in a snow bank on Governor’s Drive…..

  8. I see that Pam Roberts served as an Elector in place of Matt Michels, who had to be gone for “family reasons”. Does anyone know what happened?
