“A society is measured by how it treats its weakest and most vulnerable members. We have been failing some of ours.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) issued the following statement after Senate Democrats blocked the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act:

“Today members of the Senate from both sides of the aisle had an opportunity to protect unborn children who have reached the age of 20 weeks – five months of pregnancy – and who are capable of feeling and responding to pain. Unfortunately, this legislation failed because of the typical partisan politics Americans have sadly come to expect on important issues like this one,” said Thune. “A society is measured by how it treats its weakest and most vulnerable members. We have been failing some of ours. Today, a nation known for protecting fundamental human rights missed a critical opportunity to show that we can do better for those who cannot protect themselves.”

  1. Abortion is LEGAL!!…Women are NOT stupid!! It is THEIR choice!!! I It is NONE of your business!!=— How about you and yours do your job instead of campaign pandering to the gene pool of slow evolvers?

  2. Protect the most vulnerable? Does that include SNAP funds? Medicaid? Education? Peace? Environmental protection? Income inequality?

Just waving more red flags to distract from actual issues. Up yours, John.

    1. Thune had to throw some meat to the anti-choicers to deflect the disappointment from the radical right for saying it would be stupid for Republicans to once again shut down the government over defunding Planned Parenthood.

This is an important move for him because his real constituents – the corporations and the lobbyists – can’t cast that many votes for him. But the good folks in this forum can.

Could it be that Thune will go down as the worst senator ever?

      1. “This is an important move for him because his real constituents – the corporations and the lobbyists – can’t cast that many votes for him. But the good folks in this forum can. ”

So why does Sen. Thune take money from the corporation & lobbyists if they cannot cast that many votes for him???

Are you saying that the “good folks” on this forum are being duped by the red meat that Sen. Thune is tossing them for their votes?

        Which it is Duesenburger?

        1. Certainly can’t speak for anyone else, but anybody that buys the lies hypocrisy, and whining from Thune and Rounds here are a part of the slow evolving gene pool..,,,There should be a minimum I.Q. requirement for voting.

  3. “Protect the most vulnerable? Does that include SNAP funds? Medicaid? Education? Peace? Environmental protection? Income inequality?”

It sure does, and Sen. Thune has done all those things.

. Thank you Sen. Thune for doing a great job.

  4. Fact:
    Life begins at conception.
We must, as human beings, strive to preserve all human life.

I support the women’s right to choose, and I expect the men and women to take responsibility for their choices
