Tom Pischke attacks honor for City of Mitchell, objects to commemmeration for being GOED Community of the year.

House Commemoration 8024, recognizing the City of Mitchell as the Governor’s Office of Economic Development 2025 Community of the Year, was just killed in the State Senate by Senator Tom Pischke, objecting to it under Senate rules.

One person can object, so it’s done.   That’s what the legislature is now.

  1. I spent a couple months working for Gov Janklow itemizing every penny of state funding spent in a certain legislator’s district. He showed the list to every district official he met with, mentioned the information in speeches, etc. His message was clear: I “will make your district suffer if you re-elect this guy”. Time for our new governor to throw a few elbows, old-school style .

    1. It’s well past time. He’s always been like this.

Pischke should never have gotten a second term.

Let’s pray he never gets another.

      1. Young Mr. Pischke is from one of those districts where the voters are an ignorant blob which pays no attention. Or, perhaps, where delinquent child support payments are the normal.

        1. He’s in good standing with the crazies who have taken over the SDGOP. So it wouldn’t surprise me one but if he’s appointed to run for one of those offices. All Dems needs to do is put someone warmer than room temp on the ballot and they’ll get that one.

  2. Other than “you can”, why would you, Senator Pischke, object to the commemoration giving honor to Mitchell, a City I have called home for 53 years? Are you that starved for attention and publicity?

    1. As the Representative who wrote the Commemoration, this proves my point of what it is like to be a pert of this, it’s an embarrassment to the people of this great state!
      Representative Bathke

    1. Its the Loons of the Legislature who are an embarrassment to the state. And the ones who support them are closeted Fascists.

    2. I’m sorry that exists this level of pettiness. These awards mean a great deal to the smaller communities that win them. They use the acknowledgments to promote and market their towns. These things can mean attracting developers and growing your tax base and local economy. Of all the idiotic things I’ve seen this session, this is actually the worst.

  4. For what it’s worth, this situation is also troubling insofar as Lt. Gov. Tony V. was outsmarted by Pischke. Two observations: Tony V. isn’t as smart as he is held out to be, and Pischke is not as dumb as everyone thinks.

    1. How was Tony V ‘outsmarted?’ Anyone can object to a commemoration, and it kills it. It’s in the legislative rules. In this case, it was just a dick move, for what I hear was Jeff Bathke not voting for one of his bills in the House.

      1. Let’s not forget the Aunt Jemima stunt from last year. Man child Pischke strikes again!
