Is one of my favorite bands back in town? Oh… that’s a City Council candidate.

Saw this picture making the rounds. Is Styx playing a concert in Sioux Falls coming up? I’ll have to get tickets.

Oh… Sorry. That’s actually a candidate announcement.

Jordan Deffenbaugh Announces Candidacy for City Council, Pledges to Engage Neighborhoods and Repeal Ineffective Ordinances

[Sioux Falls, SD] — Jordan Deffenbaugh, a community organizer in the Whittier neighborhood and Sioux Falls native, announces his candidacy for the At-Large seat in the upcoming Sioux Falls City Council election. With a background firmly rooted in Sioux Falls and a vision for a more vibrant, neighborhood-focused community, Deffenbaugh seeks to revitalize the city and put power back into the hands of core neighborhoods.

The son of a local home builder who played a pivotal role in shaping Sioux Falls, Deffenbaugh combines a deep understanding of Sioux Falls’ history and urban planning with a forward-looking vision for progress.

etc…

You can read it all here.

Seriously.. he probably should ditch the album cover vibe of his web page.

  1. Local election campaigns aren’t supposed to be polished. They shouldn’t hire consultants. They shouldn’t design nice websites. Save that for state and federal politics. Local elections should be exactly that, local. It’s suppose to be about knowing your neighbors and their needs, putting yourself and your ideas out there, and letting the community chose. Please don’t politicize local elections. I like seeing folks put themselves and their ideas out there. I like seeing Jordan put his phone and email on his website. I like how he meets with just about anybody to discuss ideas. He engages folks that never get the time of day from the politically-elite. He’s a good guy and quite honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he wins. Good luck Jordan!

    1. Pat’s specialty is lobbing grenades from the safety of the sidelines at people with the courage to actually play in the game.
